They make them hardy at the Bay! In what can only be described as wintry conditions Freshwater Bay Golf Club’s new captains hosted their first engagement in their captaincy year on Sunday 20th January 2013, with the captains’ drive in. There was a great turnout for the day with the weather seeming not to have put anyone off attending.
The incoming Club Captain, Geoff Smith, ladies’ captain Shirley Clarke, seniors captain Chris Blanchard and junior captain Conor White all played shots from the 18th fairway towards the green. Conor hit the best shot, putting his ball to within two feet of the flag. Geoff is asking anyone who visits the pit in 2013 to put a small donation towards the Club’s 2013 Charity, the Hampshire & IOW Air Ambulance, and was mightily relieved when he was not the first one to have to contribute!!
During the presentation of the prizes the Captain thanked the club’s members for supporting the event, and wished everyone well for the forthcoming golfing season.
