FRESHWATER BAY GOLF CLUB CHARITY CHALLENGE 2015

The weather was perfect at Freshwater Bay Golf Course on Sunday as a field of 96 golfers from around the Island and Mainland set off in the Annual FBGC Charity Challenge, which this year was in aid of the ABILITY DOGS 4 YOUNG PEOPLE, an IOW Charity dedicated to providing assistance dogs to young adults suffering with disabilities.

Individual Winner Derek Wright with Club Captain, Steve Orchard
The scores certainly reflected the ideal conditions.

In second place was Sammi Keen, whose 1 under par score of 70 equalled the current ladies course record.
Miles Oldershaw took third spot with 41 points.
Although not in the prizes James Veal is worth a mention as he also went round in 4 under par

There were 2 teams on 126 points, with John Allen, Bill Hinchen, Sammi Keen and Chris Tansley winning on countback from Bob Godden, Jan Godden, Joan Martin and Chris Sprackling.

After the golf, a demonstration was given by the Ability Dogs 4 Young People team that showed how the trained dogs can enhance the lives of young people suffering with disabilities.

Running alongside the golf was a charity raffle, with many businesses and individuals from around the Island donating prizes. The proceeds of this and the golf day meant that the grand total raised for the charity was £1780.

During the presentation FBGC Captain Steve Orchard thanked everybody that had contributed in making the day such a resounding success, and this was echoed by Carol Court, the founder of Ability Dogs 4 Young People.
